MicroPowers Ltd.(Stirling Engine Division)Takes the Lead in the Establishment of "Chinese DishDish Type Solar Thermal Industry Alliance"

On August 29-30, 2015, after two days of intense and lively academic and technical exchanges, the Engineering and Applied Academic Exchange Conference of the Special Engine Branch of Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines (hereinafter referred to as the "SEB-CSICE") was successfully concluded in the International Exchange Center of Harbin Engineering University. This Conference was organized by the SEB-CSICE, Shanghai MicroPowers Ltd. (referred to as "MicroPowers Ltd.") and Harbin Engineering University, and was co-organized by SMDERI of CSIC and Shanghai Stirling Engine Engineering Technology Research Center.

The exchanging theme of this Conference was "new energy application trends of special engines, which was valued by many relevant universities and enterprises in China. Nearly 50 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs in the field of special engine research and manufacturing attended the Conference, and 11 representatives conducted academic and technical exchanges. The contents of the exchanges involved the solar thermal power generation technology, thermo-acoustic engine technology, clean energy utilization technology and the research on the characteristics of the main parts of the special engine, etc. , which covered wide range, contained high technical contents and were the main issues concerned by the representatives to the Conference.

Researcher Zhu Chenyuan, Secretary-General of the SEB-CSICE, presided over the Conference, and researcher Gu Genxiang, Vice Chairman of the SEB-CSICE delivered the opening address. On behalf of the SEB-CSICE, researcher Gu Genxiang expressed sincere greetings to the representatives present at the Conference, thanked this Conference's organizer Harbin Engineering University for its hard work and effective organization, and expressed congratulations on the successful opening of the Conference. At the Conference, as deputy chief engineer of SMDERI of CSIC, researcher Gu Genxiang firstly conducted technical exchanges. He introduced the overall research progress of SMDERI in the field of the Stirling engine and the understanding of the development direction of the future technology of the Stirling engine, and expressed the wish that SMDERI would work with other Chinese organizations to promote the continual development of the Stirling engine in China.

The technical exchanges were respectively chaired by Zhang Xinyu, professor of Harbin Engineering University, and researcher Zhu Chenyuan, Secretary-General of the SEB-CSICE. They encouraged the representatives present at the meeting to actively ask questions, which enlivened the atmosphere of the meeting, so that the whole meeting was conducted in a relaxed but rigorous environment. As deputy chief engineer and project leader of MicroPowers Ltd., researcher Zhu Chenyuan introduced the situation of MicroPowers Ltd. in the research and development of 25kW dish type Stirling solar thermal power generation device. Mr. Huang Minhui, leader of the solar project of Hunan Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd. (XEMC), introduced the situation of XEMC in the development of 38kW dish type Stirling solar thermal power generation device. Wan Bin, General Manager of Hangzhou Juda, shared the analysis of the operation economy of dish type power generation system. Wang Zhensheng, General Manager of Dalian Great Ocean Energy exchanged several thoughts on promoting the industrialization of Stirling. Li Qiangbo, Deputy General Manager of Colin Greenergy shared the experience of Colin Greenergy in the application and operation of the dish type power generation system. Wu Jianzhong, researcher of Xi'an Aviation Power, exchanged his own opinions on carrying out dish type power generation system in China. Luo Ercang, professor of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (TIPCCAS), introduced the progress of TIPCCAS in the research of thermo-acoustic engine and its power generation technology. Li Zhigang, assistant researcher of the Institute of Thermal Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Ziqi, master of the State Key Laboratory of Engine Combustion of Tianjin University, and Xiao Gang, professor of Zhejiang University, respectively exchanged the research findings in Stirling engine CFD numerical simulation of the porous laminated micro channels regenerator, single valve expander performance test research of Rankin recycling gasoline engine exhaust, and preliminary analysis of the characteristics of the heater and regenerator in oscillating flows. In view of the actual development of domestic and foreign dish type power generation systems, the attendees had heated discussions and successively expressed their opinions on several important factors which would affect the dishdish type solar thermal power generation and the future development trend.

Another important content of this Conference was the initiative of establishing Chinese Dish Type Solar Thermal Industry Alliance initiated by MicroPowers Ltd. The purpose of establishing the Alliance was to rapidly promote the development of dish type solar thermal power generation technology in China. In the small conference room of the International Exchange Center of Harbin Engineering University, MicroPowers Ltd., AVIC Xi 'an Aero-engine (Troup) Ltd., Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Juda Energy Technology Co., Ltd, Dalian Great Ocean New Energy Technology Development Co., Ltd, Colin Greenergy and other research and development enterprises mainly engaged in dish type power generation systems in China gather together. Faced with the situations that the awareness of dish type Stirling solar thermal power generation technology in the industry was low, Chinese enterprises engaged in the research and development of the dish type power generation heating system were relatively conservative and the technical exchanges among them were relatively few, they reached a consensus. They hoped that, through the establishment of Chinese Dish Type Solar Thermal Industry Alliance, they can realize a certain degree of technology and information sharing, speed up the establishment of professional production supply chain, improve the popularity of dish type power generation system in China, and get the attention and support of relevant government departments.

The member unit will adhere to the purpose of "technical leading, industry driving, cooperation and win-win" and jointly promote the development of dish type solar thermal power generation industry. In the future, the Alliance will also organized the formulation of some industry standards so that the dish type Stirling solar thermal power industry can develop in a more orderly and healthy way.

With respect to this Conference, because of the clear theme, detailed contents of the exchange reports and higher degree of attention, so the representative presenting at the meeting were relatively enthusiastic. Next time, the technical exchange meeting of the SEB-CSICE will focus on the exchanges of papers, the contents of which will cover the applications of special engines in many aspects, and it will be held in 2016 in appropriate place and time.
